A mole or nevus is a common skin condition. Most of the time a mole is a benign pigmented lesion on the skin, but it could also potentially be malignant so it is imperative to have a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon examine your mole to determine if the mole in question is benign or malignant and to determine its course and type of treatment. Very small moles can be simply cauterized. Larger moles would require shaving or excision. Even larger moles may require excision with skin flap rearrangement.
