Breast Reduction

Breast reduction, or reduction mammaplasty, removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve smaller and firmer breasts that are in proportion with the rest of the body. Women undergo breast reduction in order to alleviate the discomfort associated with overly large breasts. Various medical problems, such as poor posture, back and neck pain, skin irritations, and difficulty with physical activities, can result from the excessive weight of breast tissue and may develop at any time in a woman’s lifetime. In addition, many women become very self-Conscious if they have unusually large breasts. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia, but patients will be well enough to go home that same day. Full recovery usually takes several weeks. The outcome of the procedure is immediately visible and the results will be long-lasting.
